A Japanese research team has found "a perfect mummy" believed to be more than 3,500 years old in an intact Egyptian tomb. The mummy of a man was found in a sealed wooden coffin unearthed in the archeological site of Dahshur North in northern Egypt, Sakuji Yoshimura, who headed the team from Tokyo's Waseda University, said yesterday. He described the find as being of high academic value as it was "a perfect mummy that has escaped robbery and other damage." The archeologist dated the artefact as coming from a period 3,500-4,000 years ago, older than the era of Tutankhamen the Egyptian pharaoh who ruled from 1336 to 1327 BC. Mr. Yoshimura said the coffin was painted yellow and inscribed with hieroglyphics in light blue, showing the dead man was an administrative officer. The mummy itself had a mask painted blue and red that still retained vivid shades. |
Wouldn't 1500 BC put this person near the time of Ahmose, and close to the time of the expulsion of the Hyksos? _________________ Math and Art: http://mathematicsaroundus.blogspot.com/ |
