I had some time to look about here today and this thread caught my interest. Then I saw that there were some words about Isis and her origins. Despite this being perhaps a cold thread by now, that being my fav topic, I can say that she is mentioned for the very first time in the Pyramid Texts, utterance 4:

"O king, I have given to you your sister Isis that she may lay hold of you and give to you your heart for your body".

Faulkner´s translation.

I am pretty sure that 3st or Aset (which apparently means 'the seat', just like the glyph used for her name), and the later Greek and Roman deity Isis are more like two different deities than anything else if you look closer. It´s a telltale if you look at her early myths. And she went through a long but not very well known development until she came to the place(s) in time where she started to assimilate other deities. The first one of these were Hathor (Hewet-Her).

Well, I can go on for hours about this, I ´d better relieve you of myself for now! Smile

Oh, btw, there was talks about Nit(Neith) too, here´s a great page:
