I very much enjoyed both Troy and Gladiator. In fact troy is my favourite movie. It's pretty historically accurate, except troy was much smaller than what they made it to be. It also helps that brad pitt is so Drool *HOT*Drool in it.

Alexander was okay, but I thought it was kind of twisted that they made him sort of a jerk! They made it look like he cheated on his wife with a guy...weird Confused

They are making way better historical films than they used to, THANK GOD FOR THAT!

Weird to us, completely normal in the Greco-Roman world. Many men had young male lovers while being married and no one thought twice about it, as long as your were tasteful and discreet about it. Many things about the world of the Greeks and Romans seem bizarre to us--but travel back in time and tell a Greek or Roman about our world and its hangups, and he or she would surely consider us bizarre. Razz

Actually, he cheated on the guy with his wife. He was "fooling around" with men before he married--and after!

yes...but still very weird. The things they did back then are not nearly as weird as the things we do now, I agree. Although, back then, women did not havevery many rights at all , AND THAT ISN'T RIGHT. I feel sorry for who ever was a woman back then, they didn't have any tylenol or advil. Shocked

lol. I can't imagine having "your monthly friend" without any help from tylenyol or advil or whatever. But still, if I ever did get a chance to go into a time machine, I would. I would just remember to bring my little friends with me. Smile

Not to mention the expression "on the rag" .

I bet the men in this forum are scrunching their faces and blushing. Men never want to talk about this stuff. At least, I've never met one who does, lol! Very Happy

Hi queencleopatra, one small thing to take into accout is, they might not have had Advil and so on, but the products they did use for medicinal purposes were pretty strong. For example, they used to inhale the vapours from Wormwood for flu symptoms (highly toxic), they used Castor Oil as a base oil (very unrecommended), and I've also read about them feeding crushed Poppy Seeds to infants when they wouldn't sleep (although this may have been introduced by the Greeks).
My point being, that although their methods may have been more dangerous (to modern eyes, their bodies were probably used to it), they more than likely had a much better effect. Shocked
Aside from the Wormwood probably driving them all insane. You know what I say? Bring on the Wormwood-filled Absinthe, Laughing let's have a party Exclamation (Only kidding) Wink
I hope that all made sense. Confused

hmm I wonder...but it probably wasn't as easy as taking a little white pill. Well, I am more comforted to know that they had something Smile .

Hard to find a Walgreen's in ancient Egypt. Very Happy But it comes down to nature, which supplied these people with the remedies they needed. Whether or not a particular remedy was actually efficacious remains debatable in many cases, but it's surprising how many of the ancient medicine probably did work to some extent.

That's okay--when it's you women talking amongst yourselves. I guess guys can't relate because we have no equivalent experience (thank God!).

And then there are those TV commercials for women's products...

Eww, icky. I'm scrunching and blushing again. Surprised

lmao....I wish women didn't have to go through that! And can you imagine child birth? oh my god!

It is very much true that women have a high pain tolerance than men...they would die if they went through even one period!

Oh, I think most of us men could deal with the occasional monthly visitor, but giving birth...well, let's not go there!

My, this conversion has turned quite odd. Laughing
