Good to know there's a 4th book coming out Very Happy
I would have to reread the other books before I dive into the next book.
I always liked the first one in the series, River God, the best.
But the others are a fun read too.

There's a fourth book in that series? I've only read the first two, a while ago.

According to Wilbur Smith's website the 4th book will come out in Spring 2007.

There was no mention of what it was about besides being part of the "egypt series".

I found a copy of Warlock for less than a dollar yesterday, but now I cant find my copy of River God. If I can actually find it, will read it before starting Warlock.

I've read River God and then the Seventh Scroll- i never realised there was a whole series.

I was totally sucked in at the end of river god when after reading it i found the part at the back where it said it was based on a scroll some one had found - it was only until i read the seventh scroll and got the joke he put in there i realised it wasn't real. Smile

River God really gave you a sense of the atmosphere of ancient egypt, lush thickets of papyrus, hippos ,lions-it was so alive back then- i never realised Pharoh hunted with Cheetahs but they would have as Egyptians used to keep Cheetahs...amazing to think these ancient people lived quite energetic and time consuming lives even though you don't think there could have been much to do back then.

For me, river god is definitely the best. it's even the best novel dealing with Egypt i've ever read.
There's everything necessary to build a good novel : love, sex, heroes, war, bad people really very bad and so on.
Be careful no to forget it IS a novel, not an scientific book.

Seventh scroll is readable, but not extraordinary.

Warlock is disappointing : this a sort of "river god" number 2. Nothing new. And I think some of the events at the end of the book are quite inconsistent with the beginning of the same book. Were they added only prepare the 4th one ?

I read River God in the first year of uni...when I first saw it I was like "ok it looks like quite a long read is ahead of me..." but once I got into it, I couldnt put it down. It was the same with Warlock. I havnt read the seventh scroll yet...something about "Modern times" put me off lol. but if you guys think it's good then i'll give it a go!
SO excited about the new book, shame it April and not January Laughing atleast it'll be a nice graduation present for me Laughing

I'm looking forward to the new book.

I like how Wilbur Smiths books are quality and such a nice change from those corney tv documentries/shows about AE that are always on tv!
