Laughing

Well the fact they continued giving the apis bull such an elaborate burial from the time of Akhenaten's brother onwards is funny-imagine if he had revered more animals?

Just out of interest how many rooms for apis bull sarcophagi were dug in that cemetary?
I imagine they must number in the low/medium hundreds for we are talking about approximately just under 2000 years of apis bull worship.
And how many sarcophagi have been found so far?

Useful information on the Apis bull cult can be found here

http://www.egyptsites.co.uk/lower/saqqara/cemeteries.html

From a quick read it looks like there are 24 granite sarcophagi at Saqqara, it seems the early bulls were buried in the ground. As to the total number of bulls buried, we will probably never know.
