|
|
Hello everybody
Since 5 years I am writing a rock-opera about the life of Akhenaten. For my last song I need the transliteration of the early mantra and later mantra of the Aten. The first one is "Ra-Horakhty, rejoicing on the horizon, in his name of Shu, which is the Aten". The second one is "Ra, horizon ruler, who rejoices on the horizon, in his name of Ra, the father who has returned as the Aten".
Could anyone help me finding that specific information? I've searched everywhere but I can't seem to find it.
Greetz and thanx in advance, Tom |

Please do not double post. You already posted this in the Forum Help section (the wrong forum by the way so I moved it to the Miscellaneous section. I have now deleted it as you have double posted). You don't need to keep asking your question everywhere.

Hi Osiris II,
I don't mean the great hymn to Aten. I have found the complete transliteration of that.
By mantra I mean the full title of the Aten. It is written in 2 cartouches like a true king's name. Later in his reign Akhenaten changed the Aten's title to a more abstract form also put in 2 cartouches. I have found the 2 full names in Hieroglyhps and in English, but I can't make a transliteration of it. I'm not an egyptologyst. But I really want to use them in my last composition.
So if anybody knows... _________________

There's a transliteration of Akhenaten's boundary stela on UC London's website:
http://www.digitalegypt.ucl.ac.uk/amarna/boundary.html
It contains the full titles of the Aten.
"Ra-Horakhty, rejoicing on the horizon, in his name of Shu, which is the Aten" is closest to:
Ra-Horakhty rejoicing in what is Right, in his name as Shu which is in the sun-disk [Aten], given life for ever and eternity
ra-Hr-Axty Hay m mAat m rn.f m Sw nty m itn di anx Dt HH
(Ra-Har-akhty hay em maat em renef em em Shu nety em Aten di ankh djet hehe)
The other one ("Ra, horizon ruler, who rejoices on the horizon, in his name of Ra, the father who has returned as the Aten") I'm not sure I have seen. _________________ Math and Art: http://mathematicsaroundus.blogspot.com/ |

Hi Anneke,
thank you for your help but it's not exactly what I'm looking for.
If you go to www.osirisnet.net/docu/akhenat/e_akhen2.htm you can see the two pairs of the Aten's name in hieroglyphs. I'm not able to read it, but if someone could make a transliteration of that I would have what I need.

This might sound stupid, but if you click on the picture you get a translation? |

I think I may have transliterated the first one (with the help of Anneke's ealier simular one)
Could it be something like:
ra Hr akhty Hay m Htp m akht m rn.f m Sw nty m itn
(Ra-Horakhty hay em hotep em akhet em renef em Shu nety em Aten)
The second one was harder:
I had:
ra ankh HkA akhty Hay m akht m rn.f m ...(can't read this word)… m itn
(Ra ankh heqa akhety hay em akhet em renef em … em Aten)
I won't pretend I can read ancient Egyptian words ( I understand the base that's all) so please tell me where my mistakes are and maybe find the missing word.
I give you the link again where you can see the names:

In the 1. and 3. cartouche the flat glyph is not R4 (Htp), it is Y1, a determinative.
