Hi, I've just heard from a friend in Luxor that they have lifted the travel restrictions. You can travel where and when you like. This is great news.
We will now be able to visit the less well known sites and not be crammed into temples in hoards and for only 1 hour! The only restriction is that all journeys be completed before dusk. |

Abu Simbel is probably the worst we've seen. People were so crushed in that lower inscriptions are being worn away and will probably be gone completely in a few years. On a more personal side it is virtually impossible to see anything poast the head of the person in front of you. Last time we visited Dendera we had an hour there, not enough time to see anything. This has got to be excellent news, not only for tourists but as Dave points out, for the monuments themselves. We are going again in February and this will change our plans a lot. |

Apparently this relaxation of restrictions does not currently cover Aswan to Abu Simbel. |
