Saw in the Sunday Mirror (yeah I know it's a tabloid) that the authorities at the airport at Sharm el Sheik had quarantined some 40 kids from UK on a half term holiday because they were suspected of having swine flu. Apparently the infra red cameras or whatever showed they had temperatures of over 38 degrees C. The article said that they were taken from their parents and put in some awful hospital. Can you believe that?
The authorities at Luxor airport were doing that last September and it was a trifle scary to see all these officials wearing masks and armed with these cameras or whatever they were. What bothers me is. How accurate are these devices? And a slightly elevated temperature surely doesn't mean that one has necessarily contracted swine flu? I think the whole thing is a bit draconian. Rant over. |

I can believe the Egyptian Government reacted (over-reacted?) this way.
Does anyone remember several months ago when the government slaughtered over eight thousand pigs (!) to help control the Swine Flu?Give me a break!! |

Yep, remember that as well. Mind you, you can't always believe everything you read in the newspapers. |

When I went to Egypt last week there were officials wearing masks and gloves before we reached immigration asking us to fill in cards to declare that we were not suffering with certain symptoms. _________________ Do not shorten the time devoted to pleasure,
