Okay ,music is all personal taste, but imagine cruising the nile and taking in all that it involves in the country that is the stuff of dreams and legend, what music would you listen to and advise others to listen to on your walkman while drifting along.Peronally I will be taking some U2,Dido,Simple Minds,Bruce Springsteen.Just for fun ,what would you take to listen to.

The song that comes to mind is:
Nightboat to Cairo by Madness
Laughing

I might actually take the Eye in the Sky CD from the Alan Parsons Project.

(I'm sad to say that that will not happen for me for quite a while.)
Enjoy yourself, and post some pictures when you get back.

Elvis and the beatles, fleetwood mac ,excellent choices .not too sure about alan parsons project, need to download something to try it out.
heres a suggestion to everyone .try to download something by simple minds if you dont have anything by them ,try titles such as "someone somewhere in summertime"or "new gold dream"or "glittering prize"and tell me what you think of them.as long as i can remember i have wanted to listen to these whilst sailing the nile, but the best i can come up with is "beautiful day"by U2,off of the excellent "all that you cant leave behind"album which every discerning music fan must own,bye for now

You can buy a lot of souvenirs, in the form of small pyramids and so on.

But nothing catches the spirit of a country like it's music. I now do have about 5 egyptian CD's down here. And they are also used as music for under the short video clips short video clips (This track is used for day three where we skated along the westbank).

A popular artist at the moment is Mr. Diab Mr. Diab with his CD Allem Alby. They do also sell a compilation (ask for a cocktail). It says Melody hits on the cover (this is also a pretty good one).

Don't buy those belly dance CD, 'cause they generally collide with your taste of music (at least they do with my taste).

Don't worry too much, the only thing they seem to sell are genuine copies. Negociate your way down to a reasonable price.

Remember, you're in Egypt, so throw away your western tapes and dive into Egypt (keep one in hand when it gets too much).

Enjoy,

Jan Feijes
