I do find the way the temple was made so that it flooded very interesting.

Perhaps the crocodile sphinxes tell us what was supposed to be happening here?

Maybe AIII had himself portrayed as a crocodile to metaphorically say that like Sobek, he was emerging from the waters of chaos to create the world.

Maybe AIII was alluding to ending the chaos of having many gods and replacing them with a single stable uniform god? And in doing so be the creator of an orderly world?

Just me thinking out loud here but I wonder if it's not so farfetched.

The temple is again flooded - and modern flooding is not such good news.

I suspect this might be another leak in the dewatering pipe system. I will go and have a good look tomorrow.

There is no sign of water in any of the main area's of the temple beside the road. In fact the deeper excavations go down more than 2 meters below normal level and these are all bone dry.
From the picture posted it looks as if the area shown is well beyond the main alignment to the north of the Toth statues excavated last year. I could not access those without going on to the active dig site. Not good protocol. I need a balloon flight for a really good look!
