Hey I've come across this word and I'm unsure how to transliterate it because I am not aware of the proper word order.

I am presuming that the 'r' is separated and signifies 'to' since following the unknown word is 'foreign land'. Can anyone tell me how this s-S-s-r is supposed to be read?

Thanks.

Hi J-Mak, i have never seen such use of double s, but then my experience is not much. I can't really help you, but it will be not wrong to post more information about the text.
With the foreign names ancient egyptians face the problem of writing down some sounds that they have no sings for. Hoch have an interesting article about that question in his grammar, but i can not give to you a reference for the exact page now. I will be able to do it tonoght.

All best!

It's from QH26, Sabni (sAbnj)?

Xr mrH.t bj.t Hbs /// THn.t sSr(.w) nb(.w)
r sspr /// xAs.wt

sspr - causative form of spr - arrive, reach

loaded with (/carrying) oil, honey, garment, tjehenet-unguent (and) all (valuable) things
in order to reach the foreign lands

Yep it's Sabni's text. Great work identifying it! Very Happy

That makes sense. I was kinda thrown off by the determinative of the block.
Thankyou so much for that!
