Recently the results of Ramses III were released:

Quote:
We amplified 16 Y chromosomal, short tandem repeats (AmpF\STR Yfiler PCR amplification kit; Applied Biosystems).........Genetic kinship analyses revealed identical haplotypes in both mummies (table 1⇓); using the Whit Athey’s haplogroup predictor, we determined the Y chromosomal haplogroup E1b1a

This is the current distribution of this particular haplotype:

The ancient Sahara (the former living room of Africa) from what I've read was the likely source of this in the Nile Valley. Any comments? [/img]

The current distribution level is not really suitable to make statement about the situation from 3500 years ago. So I would say: Nice but meaningless for Egyptology.

Greetings, Lutz.

Greetings, Lutz.

The current distribution level of R in Europe is not reflective of the original markers of the first inhabitants (H and I). The likely scenario is that E1b1a had a significant presence in the ancient Sahara, which was the primary population source of Pre-Dynastic Egypt.

How is this meaningless?
