Hi,

I've just heard of Gardiner's hieroglyph Aa25 that seemingly sparkled problems of reading and interpretation since de Rougé in 1867 (see, Henri Gauthier, Le Personel du Dieu Min, p.44ff).

Interestingly, it is not a subject I could find many references nor precise explanation. Nonetheless, Lutz's site (if it is his) gave the best overview.
The adopted translation by scholars is a Stolist Priest, based on later Graeco-Roman periods...?

Despite having the greek root of the word Stolist (since apparently, this word is restricted to the historian), I can't see what the root meant. I haven't found something statidfying yet. Perhaps I missed something from the link I gave...german isn't my native language. compress

Best Regards,

An Egyptian Dreams User

I think that it is a neologism to mean that he is the guy who changes the god's garments (stola, in liturgical terms).

Thanks Robson. That resolves the matter.

The ancient Egyptian priestly title "Hrj-sStA ab-nTr" is in the multilingual Ptolemaic priests decrees (same text in Hieros and Greek on one object -> for example the Rosetta Stone) paraphrased with "adorn the gods with their clothes" or with "the priests who go into the most holy, to perform the clothing of the gods".

Greetings, Lutz.
