Archaeologists have found a 5,600-year-old tomb that predates the unification of Egypt under the First Dynasty in the city of Hierakonpolis located between Luxor and Aswan.

"The tombs of King Narmer and King Ra, a pre-dynastic pharaoh who paved the way to Egypt's unification, were previously discovered in Hierakonpolis."

Who is King Ra?

See Beckerath, Handbuch der Ägyptischen Königsnamen, 1999, p. 36 - 37 : Dynasty 0, Hor Ra (or Iri ?).

Greetings, Lutz.

Thank you, Lutz.

I know him as Iry-Hor. Hor Ra seams to me as less accurate.

If I understand it correctly, the reading is simply contentious (which is not really surprising considering the date "Dynasty 0"?). The figure at Beckerath shows the Horus falcon on Gardiner D 21 and not on D 4 ... But I know neither the original object / inscription after the drawing was made nor am I sufficiently proficient in the language.

Greetings, Lutz.
