I have these books which I found readable & very useful for my last course.

People of the Pharaohs – Hilary Wilson

Daily Life in Ancient Egypt – Anna Ruiz

Everyday Life in the Egypt in the days of Ramesses the Great – Pierre Montet

My personal favourite book is

The Tomb Builders of the Pharaohs – Morris Bierbrier

as it gives so much insight into the personal lives of the people of Deir El Medina.

Focussing on women in particular is

Women in Ancient Egypt – gay Robins

Hope some of these might be of use.

I am currently reading Red Land, Black Land by Barbara Metz, and while it may skim over some areas of daily life, it's a very entertaining read. Metz is a fantastic writer!

Agree RE Red Land, Black Land.

One I found particularly interesting was Kasia Szpakowska's Daily Life in Ancient Egypt. A lot of 'daily life' books focus on the New Kingdom (especially the tomb-builders' village) and the Late Period, but this is a good one focusing primarily on a Middle Kingdom site.

I recently found on Amazon a book called "Daily lives of the Ancient Egyptians" by Adolf Erma. It has 8 five star reviews. Anyone read it? Or any comments on it? I am thinking of buying it.
