Nice one - I always try to tip the soliders/tourist police as they rarely get anything and their wages are miniscule.

Did you see the magazine, was it loaded? I believe only about a third of them actually carry live ammo.

gamal the guide from qurna, told me about his national service, spent driving a tank around the sinai, and what did he and his crew do with this millions of pounds worth of military hardware his government entrusted him with,he put sand in the fuel tank every few days, let it break down, light up a fire and have a party ,waiting for the mechanics to get to them.loved that one Very Happy

Well I'm not sure how I'd react if I saw someone with a gun (my mum would freak out!) are they there to keep the tourist sites safe, to scare off the trouble makers?

again, they are there for our safety, most of them are underpaid young or old boys and men,and with no trouble in sight it is a very boring day for them.again let me stress how safe it was,not a hint of trouble.and also, armed ploice are now on the streets of britain every day, with far more serious crime than in egypt

Doesn't seem to work with the "I need help (really the mental kind)"-thread.
Maybe you can save our pretty behinds from being totally ignored?
