Advertising for a book seemingly delivers new results to the scans over KV 62 by the Italien mission:
" Sulle tracce di Nefertiti " ((National Geographic Italy - Alessandra Clementi, 07.07.2017)
If I understand the whole correctly (using Google-Translator), the external measurements gave a possible hollow space of 4 - 6 meters deep from and behind the north wall? They talk also of a previously unopened tomb in the Westvalley (not for the first time, foundation deposits have been found a few years ago).
Someone with knowledge of the Italian language here?

It seems to me, not using google, that it is an anomaly 4m beyond the North wall, but is very unclear if this "something" extends for 6m, is 6m wide or 6m below the surface.
I think even with the article simply being an advert for Hawass's new book, then because he seems to have changed his mind about Reeve's idea, and to now have some official capacity with the exploration, must be good news for those of us who want Reeves to be right. I wonder if, after Hawass's strong earlier statements against Reeves, that he would do a volte-face if he did not have some information, not known to the public, that there is in fact some type of extension to KV62.
However, a strong element of caution is needed with this article due to the comments written by Tom Hardwick underneath it. He is quoted in the article as saying that he believes the cartouche of Ay in the tomb had been altered from presumably that of Smenkhare, and thus supporting the idea that there is a tomb beyond a tomb. His comment clearly states he has been taken out of context, and simply said that he thinks the alteration is the result of an initial spelling mistake and corrected while the paint was still wet. That the article has twisted Hardwick's words is not a good sign. A pity, but hopefully this was nothing more than a silly error and that there is still hope for good news in, November? |

"Nefertiti, if you're there, we're coming". This is Hawass quoted in an extract from the book published on Italian Amazon. |

Thanks Icon.
Yes, Hawass was never so squeamish when it came to self-marketing and the own cash. Free according to the motto: "What care me my stupid talk of yesterday!" (Nefertiti was buried in Amarna / Georadar has never brought anything / etc).
Maybe everything suggests that also in Egyptology history repeats: He wants Nicolas Reeves for the second time out of the way in the Valley of the Kings, as soon as a possible discovery appears in view... What a shameless opportunistic liar.

Yes, a real shame that Reeves is very probably going to be sidelined if he is proved correct about KV62. I do not doubt that when eventually an image from a fiber optic cable is seen on a monitor, it will be Hawass proclaiming, "Wonderful things", and Hawass presenting endless documentaries and Hawass publishing book after book.
However, IF Nefertiti is in KV62, I can imagine her mummy shuddering in terror at the thought of Hawass coming.... |

Still, there’s always the risk of a “curse” although Hawass seems mysteriously immune. |

Maybe he knows enough cadavers in the cellars of the current authorities in Egypt ... From his time as supporter and servant of the Mubarak regime?

Also according to Quilici, abnormalities on the rock close to KV23 (Ay's royal tomb) may indicate the presence of another tomb, for him possibly Ankhesenamun's. |

Google - Translator :
Quote: | Italian researchers have discovered "anomalies" adjacent to the tomb of Tutankhamun. Whether this could be the resting place of Nefertiti, is still speculation.
The guess work around the tomb of Tutankhamen in the Valley of the Kings continues. Recent research by Italian scientists led by the physicist Francesco Porcelli of the Polytechnic University of Turin has revealed that there are two "anomalies" to the left and right of Tutankhamun's burial chamber. ...
... Therefore, the team around Francesco Porcelli will make in January 2018 a new attempt to scan from the inside the neighborhood of the tomb of Tutankhamun, again with a ground radar (GPR). Only when there is 100% certainty about a possible space, the Antiques Ministry will allow a possible hole to introduce a camera. But the integrity of the structure has absolute priority. ... |
