LOL Didn't even know if one with a 'Q' was doable

I'm very impressed!

How about we try some ancient-Egyptian-style limericks?

Those ancient Egyptians were stupendous.
They took out the guts,
did nothing to the nuts...
and what they did with the rest was horrendous. Very Happy

Awww, and I was just getting started. I had nothing to do on my torturously long commute home but sit there in traffic and think of saucy Egyptian limericks. Crying or Very sad

Nefertari offering, Horus from a scene in Horemheb's tomb, Tut and Ankhesenamen as shown on the throne, and my interpretation of a statue of Tiye Very Happy

I have nothing to show that anyone would be interested in seeing. But I'm really looking forward to seeing your artwork!

Okay I've got a few limericks:

There once was a boy named Tut.
Who really loved to strutt.
But one day he
Broke his knee.
And now he's stuck in a rut.

There is a place called the Two Lands.
Just beyond the hot sands.
Lush lotuses grows,
The sphinx has no nose.
And the pyramids were built by strong hands.

There once was a woman named Isis.
Who had found herself in a crisis.
She learned to jive,
Instesd of to drive.
And now she can't get her liscence.
(that one is just stupid)

Laughing Laughing

Way to go, Daniella. You're in that creative groove.

There once was a man named Asir
whose brother cut him apart hand and ear.
The phallus ne'er could not be found
but Aset did not frown
for she made one of mud in good cheer.

(It seems that the ancient Egyptian names for Osiris and Isis rhyme better than the Greek versions!)

Once there was a boy Tutankhaten
who later kings hoped would be forgotten.
His dad was a cad, they thought him quite mad,
but what they believed was just rotten!

Boy, it must be getting late. Confused

Thanks! Very Happy But are you sure it's safe to encourage me? Well, I am trying to keep them in good taste, and it's very boring here at work today, so perhaps I'll try it again.

The tombs of the royals were so splendid.
When robbed the owners were offended.
A curse they would give, not long would you live:
by a croc your body would be rended!

Re sent Sekhmet, the lioness fierce.
With sharp claws and teeth she could pierce.
Too lethal was she, for she killed with great glee
so they tamed here with the drink of barley.

There once was a king named Pepy
who lived to be well past 90.
He lasted so long, his body no longer strong,
that when he died he was already a mummy.

That last one doesn't even rhyme well. I'd better stop before everyone gets too sick of me. Surprised

There once was a guy named John,
Who partied all night until dawn.
He woke with a head-ache
It was such a heart-break
To see a grown man puke on the lawn.
Razz

LOL

I can't even remember the last time I partied till dawn. And whenever I happened to party that much, I certainly had the good grace and decorum to blow chunks in a less public place.

I preferred the back yard.

The Egyptians sure loved their beer.
They drank it all day without fear.
It was given away--what a wonderful boon!
How else could they build the Temple of Amun?

And...

In my tomb stack the beer and bread high;
throw in some clothes and a gold Horus Eye.
Add some games like Mehen and Senet,
and paintings of cute girls to help me forget
that my wife was my sister, who looked like Set!

LOL, That last one was great!

There once was a guy from Perth
Who was born on the day of his birth
He was wed, so they say
On his wife's wedding day
And he died on his last day on earth.
(author unknown)

Sobek is the god of the water
He is a croc, not an otter
Sometimes he cries
When he often tries
To read books about Harry Potter
(that one totally sucks)

LOL

I was thinking about one to do for Sobek myself.

There once was a god called Sobek
whose head was a croc's from the neck.
He cried crocodile tears
over the young girls' fears
that caused them his love to reject.

(All this fuss about Harry Potter, by the way, has made me wonder if these books are worth reading. I've always enjoyed the films, but friends my age say I'd enjoy the books even more.)

In the cemetery of Mennefer grand
the priests put up temples in the sand.
Give them some gold,
a cat mummy you'll be sold,
stuffed with twigs and rags moldy and old!

I love the Harry Potter Books.
I'm reading book 6 right now Very Happy
It's great escapism, and she has written them in a way that even when you reread them you come across more and more detail.
I think they are great fun.
