I will be visiting my relatives in the Netherlands and I was looking up information about the State Museum of Antiquities (Rijksmuseum van Oudheden) in Leiden.

You can actually take
a virtual tour of the entrance hall and the mummy collection

Click on the link above and go to "a three-dimensional guided tour"

There are some great pictures of the Egyptian collection:
Hall with the statues of Maya and Meryt from Saqqara

More info about their Egyptian Collection

I also plan to go to the Allard Pierson Museum in Amsterdam.

This museum is not as well known as the museum in Leiden, but it's fun to visit.

The Egyptian collection at the Allard Pierson Museum

This museum has more to offer
All collections at the museum

And Yes, I do actually plan to visit with my mother, all my siblings, friends and other relatives as well Laughing

Leiden and Amsterdam are not very far away from where I live, it looks quite interesting to me to pay those museums also a visit during my holidays.

By the way, in Brussels is also a museum with some interesting Egyptian stuff.

Leiden has a wonderful collection. I really love that museum.

I like the stelaes they have displayed. One by one a light is shone on them and the text recited.

There are 2 nice chapels (or parts thereof) one from the old Kingdom and the other from the time of Tutankhamen.
There are also some pillars from a Ramesside temple.

The mummy room is interesting too. Mostly coffins, but some of those are beautiful.

There's also a really big crocodile mummy which they found out was fabricated from two smaller crocs when they X-rayed or scanned the mummy Laughing

I didn't get around to going to the Alard Pierson museum. I ran out of time and energy.

I would like to go to the Brussels museum. I know they have a famous relief of Queen Tiye, and a generally nice collection.
With a family as large as mine finding time is a bit tricky though...

Maybe this summer we'll go to Leiden, if we can make time that is, because (almost) all our holidays will be spent on travelling. If you ever will be in the neighbourhood of Brussels my wife and I will be happy to visit the Brussels Museum with you, Anneke! Just let us know.
