I know the idea that the pyramids were built in 10000 BC is far fetched, but I like the idea that they may have aligned with, or represented the stars. (There's me going off at a tangent again.)
What do you think of the Sphinx-Leo connection? |
I don't really know what to think about that, but when I saw "The Orion Mystery" I had such a feeling that we still don't know very much about the Egyptian civilization. The point of Hancock and Bauval is however certainly interesting, comparing the milky way and the stars of Orion to the place of the piramids along the river Nile. |

I don't know that, I always thought indeed that the first alphabet was the "linear A" or "linear B". |

It seems to me that writing was invented independently in several places. I think it would be hard to create a large scale civilization without some administration, and that requires writing.
I think there's a difference between the invention of writing and the invention of the alphabet. The egyptians did not use an alphabet at all. _________________ Math and Art: http://mathematicsaroundus.blogspot.com/ |

Quickly one reply, my wife is still in the bathroom. Writing and the alphabet are indeed two different things although without an alphabet we won't have written. And it was indeed invented independently in different places, in Australia the alphabet didn't exist untill it became a part of the great English Empire and it was colonized. But that's a different story. |

I never knew of the Milky way-Nile connection, i was aware of the Pyramids and Orion, but not the Nile. That's interesting.
Is Linear A the Sumerian script? That has another name, can't remember what that writing was called but it begins with C, I think. |

If I remember well it was quite interesting.
It was something like this:
When you take a plane and look at the Nile and the sites of the pyramids along its borders, then these are comparable with the exact location of the stars of the Orion constellation along the milky way around 10.000 BC.
It's like a projection of them on the ground. |

I think this thread has lots it's way - this section is supposed to be about the Sphinx but seems to have become more about the Pyramids. I know the two are sort of related but maybe this discussion would better suited under the Pyramids forum? _________________ "Man fears Time - but Time fears the pyramids" - Old Egyptian saying |

It's my fault-I seem to always go off at tangents. If you want, I'll start a topic at the pyramid board. |

I started a new thread in the Pyramids-forum.
In true form, there are several typos, and a link I forgot to put in _________________ Math and Art: http://mathematicsaroundus.blogspot.com/ |
