Hey there! I'm pretty new to this forum but I joined because I am absolutely obsessed with Egypt.

Well, I was looking around and I couldn't find anything on Abu Simbel. I know that the temple of Abu Simbel was constructed by Ramses II and that he dedicated a temple to his favourite wife, Nefertari, but I was wondering if anyone could help me gather more specific information? I'm really quite interested in Abu Simbel, so any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Here's a thread that was started here at Egyptian Dreams, it's about the event where the sun shines right the way into the temple to illuminate the gods and Ramses at the end...which happens twice a year. It's very interesting! Wink

Hope that helps.

One of our members - Alain Guilleux - has a wonderful website with many of his photographs. He has several pages devoted to Abu Simbel and there are photographs of both the big temple and the smaller Hathor temple.

http://alain.guilleux.free.fr/abou_simbel/temples_abou_simbel.html

There is some more info about some of the scenes in the temples on my Nefertari page: Link to page for Queen Nefertari
Although these deal mainly with the scenes involving the Queen.

Thanks for the links. I'll check them out!

PS: I'm still figuring out how to work the signature. I'll get there soon, so don't worry if it turns up all weird like my other attempts. Embarassed
