THe Mummy you refered to was actually discovered in the mid 60s by a group of children who lived on Via Casala Ghella in an apartment complex that housed foreign diplomats and embassy staff. The children were all American and Canadian with the exception of one Italian Teenager.

There was new construction being done on the corner of the Grottarosa and Via Casala Ghella, the foundation for an apt. Building was being dug. This was a favorite playground for the neighborhood children. On one afternoon an American boy found what looked like chicken bones so the rest of the kids joined the quest. (I will note the boy who found the first bone had archeologist for parents and was always digging for some Etruscan treasure). Over the next week the children collected hundreds of bones and other artifacts and took them home, they even traded them like baseball cards. The big day came and one of the kids found a skull and showed it to his father which turned out to be the end of the great Bone hunt.

I was one of those children and I had a box of bones and other artifacts under my bed The same day the skull was found, a knock came on the door of our apt. and my mother was met by one of the other kids who was flanked by a Caribieneri officer and a uniformed US Marine (my father was a US diplomat) They asked for me and the boy simply said "they want them bones" I hesitated for a moment until the Marine added the word "NOW!" I like all the other kids gave up my bones and they ended up in a display at one of the museums in Rome.
