That's all right. We just prefer that a post appear only once. Wink

Quick note for any British forumites -

If you have a Waterstones card (which is free!) you can now get discount entry to the exhibition.

I'm going to the Exhibition again on Saturday. I went up just before Christmas but literally came down with a cold while walking around there. Evil or Very Mad Hope the nicer weather will make it a nicer trip this time. Very Happy

Gees, that must've been terribly fun for you. If your colds are anything like mine, all you'd remember is some fancy gold stuff and the five and a half pounds of tissues you used up. Razz

I hope this time around goes much better for you. Wink

^ Thanks. At least the weather should be nicer this time. It was freeeeezing last time. Unfortunately there's not much else to do at the O2 dome after the exhibition other than go and eat and drink.....I suppose I'll have to do some of that .... Wink

Oh, man, I would love just to be in London. I can only imaging all the things to do and see. I'm sure I could fill out a whole vacation in the B.M. alone. Very Happy

You'd have to allow yourself several days to do the B.M.
Last time I was there, I spend 4 hours--in the Egyptian Hall alone! Didn't even see the rest that day. It's quite a place!!

LOL I thought you were leading up to something dramatic, like: "Last time I was there, I spent 4 hours--in the bathroom!" I thought perhaps you'd had some bad fish the night before.

Naturally the Egyptian gallery is the first place I'd go, and I have little doubt it's where I'd be the rest of the day. I'd have to bring several high-capacity memory cards for my digital camera. The guards would have to drag me out of the place.

If I ever go there, however, I'll check the bathroom to see how you're doing. Laughing

The BM is one of the museums you can take photos. There are always thousands of people there but you can get decent shots with a bit of patience.

It was quite quiet at the Exhibition yesterday. Well quieter than when I went the first time. The souvenirs are still overpriced though I did buy some stuff including a nice poster which had been reduced in price. Razz

Sorry Kmt_sesh but I also went on the London Eye. It was ok but doesn't compare to many other things I've done so you've not missed much. If I've time and if I remember later in the week I'll post some London Eye photos if anyone is interested?

Sure, Ankhesenamun, share some photos. They're always fun! Did you take quite a few at the B.M.?

Another museum I've always wanted to see is the Sir John Soane's Museum, where the calcite sarcophagus of Seti I is kept. Then of course there's the Petrie Museum. If I could visit other museums of England I'd also go up north to the one in Manchester, which is a showcase for artifacts from Kahun.

Good grief, one could have a grand time just touring the museums of England!

Just curious if anyone who has visited the Tut exhibition recently got the Tut Oyster card? I really wanted one of those but never got one with the tickets I bought. Are they still available?

I worked the exhibit while it was at the Field Museum in Chicago, littlegirlofthenile. No, you're not permitted to take photos. It's an unfortunate but basic fact of nearly every temporary exhibit.

As for how long you have in the exhibit, my fellow Moderator, anneke, had the right idea when she went to Chicago to do it. She worked her way to the end, went all the way back to the beginning, and did it again (maybe more than once, if I remember correctly). You have as much time as you want while you're inside the exhibit, so don't go through the exit until you'be had your fill of Tut and his royal kin!

So you'll be seeing it in Dallas, then? I was reading about the venue there in the latest issue of KMT magazine and it sounds like they're going to do a great job with it. The exhibit will be there as long as it was at the Field Museum (eight months) and they're also going to exhibit the Burton photos of the excavation. I saw those at the Oriental Institute in Chicago, and they were a treat. And, Dallas will also be showing that Imax film on mummification, every hour on the hour (for about $5 extra, which is a steal).

I'll bet you have a great time. You'll have to tell us about your experience after you've been there. Wink

Hi everyone! I came back from my trip of the king tut exhibit in dallas! I was not disappointed, only that I had to come back home Laughing
I loved the artifacts I was speechless going through each gallery! I didn't realize how big the canopic jars actually were! Shocked I was sad that I couldn't take any pictures of the actual artifacts themselves, but I did get some nice souvnoirs (cannot spell that word XD) me and my bestfriend took pictures of the museum and at the entrance of the museum.
he enjoyed himself as much as I did. Wink
