Is it in their permanent collection or traveling exhibit? I'd like to know more about this statue and see more photos of it. |

Here are some photos from the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum in San Jose CA
The stuff outside isn't real, but I really like how it looked!
.
This was really neat... they had a reconstruction of the inside of a tomb,
and they painted all the walls and ceiling with funerary scenes. The ceiling
has a picture of Nut with arms outstretched across the entire length, with
stars covering the rest. Really cool!

Hello !
The museum in Berlin, "Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlung" ( http://www.smb.spk-berlin.de/smb/sammlungen/details.php?lang=de&objID=2&n=1&r=1 ), is beside Cairo, New York, London and Paris one of the most important in the world.
Unique is the large collection of pieces from Amarna. Who does not know "The Coloured Queen" - Ludwig Borchardt called the bust of Nefertiti first when she was found on 6-th of December in 1912 at Amarna, in house P.47 room 2, workshop of royal sculptor Thutmosis ?
Over 40 years the pieces which come through the war were separated into an East- and a West-Collection.
In August 2005 Nefertiti went back to the hard of the city of Berlin. At the "Altes Museum" on the so called "Museums-Iland" she waits for the re-opening of the building of the "Neues Museum" (totaly destroyed during the war) were the Egyptian collection was before.
Here at first some impressions from the opening day of the exhibition at "Altes Museum", on 12-th of August in 2005 :
Altes Museum, Berlin (Karl Friedrich Schinkel). The crane in the back works for the re-buildung of the "Neues Museum".
Amenhotep III.
The royal familie of Amarna.
Nefertiti as older women. In the back Akhenaton.
The first three reliefs come from the sun temple of Ni-user-Ra (5.Dyn.) from Abusir, from the so called "Weltenkammer".
The entrance to the room with a choise of the papyri-collection.
Valley of the Kings : Tomb of Sethi I.
Valley of the Kings : Tomb of Sethi I.
Valley of the Kings : Tomb of Sethi I.
" All Art Has Been Contemporary. "
How I already said, just a first impression ...To be continued ...With better describtion of the pieces, I promise. Feel free to ask if there are questions.
Greetings,
Lutz |
