Hey! As you can see I'm new to the forum & I'm clearly in love with the Amarna period (not to mention the rest of the 18th dynasty!)
I'm pursuing a career in Egyptology in the near future. I'd love to make some friends who share this common interest! |

Hi ~Ankhesenamun~
Welcome to ED forum. Your interest in the 18th Dynasty is shared by many. I look forward to hearing your views.
Are you thinking of studying in a University or at home. I will be looking at studying this year (Egypt related, of course), but am at a loose end as to where i will study, and which subjects (Hieroglyphs, Religion, etc).
Also, please can you let me know where you were buried? also, did you write that piece of correspondence to the foreign King, asking for a husband?

Thanks! Yes! I'm not the only one! Are you sure? I have many.
I am definitely going to a university, & I'll most likely study abroad for my doctoral degree.
I have high expectations, I'd like to specialize in every area of Egyptian history (not past the Ptolemaic Dynasties though)
& become fluent in Middle & Late Egyptian as well as Hieratic, Demotic, Ancient Greek and possibly Coptic? atm I'm semi-fluent in French & I'm working on German!
I wish I could tell you, but I am not quite certain myself as to the location of my burial.
& Yes, that was me |

Welcome to the forums!! I'm new too! In love with the Amarna period eh? I just got acquainted better with the subject myself a while ago. I'm drawn to Cleopatra VII's reign myself. I still find the Amarna Period VERY fascinating. I'm also pursuing a career in Egyptology.
I must recommend my new friend to you, QueenNefertiti . She is also very interested with that period ^^ Queen Nefertiti anyways. LOL

Hey! Welcome to you too!
Yup. I've always loved Egypt!
I was never quite sure what captured my interest at first, I suppose everything did.
Ah yes, Cleopatra.
I've actually been planning to find her tomb, maybe we can work together!
(if Hawass doesn't beat us to it!)
Okay! Neat! |

For me its been since I was two, no word of a lie!
I honestly don't know where to start to be honest, they couldn't have gotten her body that far. So somewhere in Alexandria? Was her father's tomb found?
Hahahaha. Zahi seems like a nice guy, but he's too ambitious. Nothing will be left to find after he's retired. |

Wow, very impressive!
It might be in Alexandria, they're looking for her palace underwater to see if she is there.. I think she might be in Alexandria since she loved and adored it.. but since she married Antony, maybe she's buried with him??? Or maybe she's just buried in the desert somewhere hidden.. idk You know I am not sure.. I don't doubt it. I'm going to look it up right now.
He's okay, but since he practically owns the word Egyptology, I doubt he will let anything that huge not be found while he's around. As you said.. too ambitious. Hopefully his retirement will be soon eh? He's got to leave at least a few good ones for us younger ones. lol

Thank you!
I'd be glad to discuss Amarna!
Have you ever visited the site of Akhetaten? |

I've been there several times over the years. I really love that place! So out in the middle of no-where!
When I first went there, there was virtually no excavation work going on--the place seemed to be deserted. I went to the Northern and then the Southern tombs. Terribly dis-figured, but the original look was still apparent. It was quite an experience.
Would you believe I rode out on a tractor? A farmer gave us a lift to the site--in 110 degree day, too!
Today, there's a tourist rest-stop at the site, along with busy excavation work being done, but truly, I miss the old way! |

I know!
Akhenaten, why did you build your capital in the middle of nowhere?
I've been searching for a way to get there when I go to Egypt next month.
Wow. Did you travel from Cairo or Luxor?
Oh my goodness! That's amazing!
What a nice farmer you encountered! |

There's no doubt in my mind that I can think of right now that says otherwise...
Me too!! I'm still looking for the right one tho..not very many universities have Egyptology. :/
