Only the admin and moderators can edit posts. Sorry about that but I have seen too many boards around where somebody posts something, provokes a debate and then edit's their original post thus completely changing the original debate and causing confusion.

Plus it gives me a feeling of power Wink

I do prefer the option to edit your own posts, especially as my spelling and such can be dreadful if I type before my second cup of coffee.

However, your wish is our command...so can I request that you install a spellchecker instead?

Cheers

As soon as the Christmas period is over I'll see what I can do. Wink

Marvellous, thanks. It doesn't take long to install, the only real drawback is the size of the dictionary which is about 5 MB.

Cheers

I've had some experience in PHB forums, and I was under the impression they shared similar attributes -- all of the ones I have seen/created have the option to put a time limit on editing posts. Does this forum not have that option? If so, a five-minute time limit on editing couldn't be used too frequently to completely change the content of a post, could it?

[blows raspberry]thrrrrrrrrrppppp[/blows raspberry]

I'm pretty sure this board lets you edit posts indefinitely. I've looked at the add on for a spell check and couldn't get the damn thing to work. I haven't forgotten about it and I am still trying so I'm afraid you'll have to bear with me a bit longer.

which spellcheck was it?

I use this one but am unsure if it will work with this version of phpbb. They've just released 2.0.7 if you are interested in an upgrade?

*ducks*

Hi Murphyz,

That was the one I've tried but for some reason it was giving errors. I'll give it another go at the weekend as it may just have been me not paying attention.

Thanks.

coolio. My first install of that wouldn't install the dictionary itself without crashing as it was far too large, so I had to split it into 5 smaller parts that installed easily.

Otherwise I'll say it's either the version of phpbb, or a significant lack of caffeine. Perhaps you should introduce a drip to your home so you can ensure a constant flow of the stuff into your body? Laughing

Never going to happen.

The spellchecker was more hassle than it was worth too. Most people will forgive spelling errors, etc so it really shouldn't be a problem.

Ah, ok, no problem Smile

Sometimes I come to think of more things to say but that can just as well be a next message!

Just forward all proposed posts to Kevin and he will personally proofread them for spelling and accuracy.

I'm kidding, of course. Just kidding. Laughing

Just as long as you CC them to kmt_sesh that will be fine. Wink

Actually, to make sure he gets them you should CC them to his contact email address on this board, his work email address, his private email address, and perhaps include a written copy in the post. Contact me if you don't have any of the addresses and I'll forward them to you. Twisted Evil
