Regarding spell checking, if you have Goggle toolbar, which you can download for free, one of the features is a spell checker. You can use it for any form on the internet.

Only the admin and moderators can edit posts. Sorry about that but I have seen too many boards around where somebody posts something, provokes a debate and then edit's their original post thus completely changing the original debate and causing confusion.

Plus it gives me a feeling of power Wink

While you are right about what you think, being unable to edit my messages occurs a big problem for a non-english speaker like me. Unfortunately I'm an intermediate speaker for English language, so i cant always write perfect sentences and i frequently make mistakes.

That's why i need editing...Sad

But luckily we here at Egyptian Dreams are a patient and understanding community, so if you make genuine mistakes we understand and you can always correct yourself in your next post......

The possibility to edit/erase the last message would be useful. This is possible on another forum "Powered by phpBB 2001, 2005 phpBB Group".

I've quite had my share of slightly-gone-wrong discussions on forums...
Some here as well (whistling innocently and definitely not refering to one particular person).
I'm quite glad for the absence of private editing - even when I hate my own typos.
After a while (occasionally) it encourages people to think before they write. Razz

Never going to happen. It's not been a problem for 5 years on this board so I'm not going to change it now. The reasons have been clearly explained previously and still hold true.

99% of other forums time stamp the edits, this will solve your problem? and stop the 1000's of double/triple posts?

Also a quick reply would be very useful Wink

Every post that mentions this in the future will be ignored by me. I have much better things to do than keep on repeating myself over and over. This is the last time I mention this.....

Perhaps if people proofed their posts carefully before submitting them? Thought carefully about what they wish to write before rushing to submit? All it takes is a bit of proofing and editing, the same as one would do for any paper or report to be submitted.

Couldn't agree more. That's what I love about this forum, it isn't just some place for casual chatting it's a pretty classy forum.
And I like the analogy you used sesh, because before I submit my posts I do feel like I'm editing an aessay or something similar. And even if I do overlook some silly spelling mistake, big deal, everybody here will still know what I mean...lol. Then I'll get teased and we'll have a chuckle, and it's all good. Laughing

I happen to prefer the forum this way. And this is my favourite froum, so thank you Kevin, you've done a great job here! Very Happy
