You can download the 'Hieroglyphic Font for Windows' from this website. Does that help?

There's Jsesh: http://jsesh.qenherkhopeshef.org/

Quote from website: "JSesh is a free, open source, editor for ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic texts. It's currently quite powerful, and it covers most of the so-called Manuel de Codage. "

It does come with some preloaded texts if I remember correctly.
I find the editor easy to use.
