Two other myths worth reading are:

Se-Osiris and the Sealed Letter (http://www.egyptianmyths.net/mythsealletr.htm)

The Golden Lotus

Hmmm, in one story they talk about sending plagues upon Egypt, and in the other story they part the water.
Commonalities with biblical stories or are these just common themes in ancient legends in general?

I had heard of Setne. The wise man based on Khaemweset, son of Ramses II. I never heard of Se-Osiris though. Khaemweset did have a son, but I think his name was Hori. I can't remember if he was a priest just like his father.

It's also the magic that plays quite a big part in Egyptian religion!

Have you heard of the teachings of Hermes Trimegistus? I keep seeing this book in the local bookstore.
Supposedly it contains the beliefs of the ancient egyptians as written down by someone in roman(??) time?

I have to look for the details somewhere.

Ah, the Hermetic texts-they are quite incredible from what i heard. Supposedly they were written by Thoth and they have some concepts about the universe that are quite similar to things that are only just being discovered by science (oh dear, i sound all 'fringey' now don't I? LOL)
The Hermetic Texts are where the famous phrase 'as above so below' comes from.

Hmm, I have heard of the myth of when the magician folds the water to retrive a hairclip, and I read on a website that Moses learnt 'Egyptian magic' and that's how he was able to part the Red Sea, or that the parting of the Red Sea was inspired by the Egyptian story I mentioned. What do you think?

Wasn't Moses an Egyptian (prince) himself? (Hence the name).

Yeah I read somewhere that there's a link to Thoth. That's interesting too because in some of the egyptian legends they make reference to the book of Thoth. This is supposed to contain all the god's wisdom?
I think this book of Thoth is also used as a book of spells.
I read somewhere that these books by Hermes Trismegistus have two part to them: a philosophical part, and a part containing spells.

Supposedly the texts were used in the middle ages by alchemists.

Yes, think of all the Egyptian names Tut-Moses Ptah-Moses, Amen-Mose.

I'm not sure, but if I remember correctly it means something like "son"

The name "Mose" or "Moses" is something that appears frequently in Egyptian names. See also Anneke's post above.

A site that can maybe interest you about Egyptian names:
