Surveillance cameras filmed the slump in the shop of the Egyptian Museum Cairo. The recordings are now available on Youtube:

But I would be more interested in recordings from the looting of the Museum itself ... Of course, the question arises, are they to "sensitive" or did the camera not worked there (what would also be more than only embarrassing...)?!?

Greetings, Lutz.

"or did the camera not worked there...?

Well as you know this is Egypt we are talking about and when was the last time everything worked?

The last time I was at the Nubian Museum in Aswan the big display of monitors in the first gallery had half the screens out of order. A shame as the video was spread over the six screens and vital parts were missing. Still, as the picture we have of the history of AE is also full of holes, missing parts are part of Egypt's charm.

Reading Amelia Edwards' wonderful book " A Thousand Miles Up The Nile" it seems as if the lack of maintenance is nothing new. In it she comments on how many famous mosques in Cairo were falling apart when she visited them in 1873.

On the other hand, maybe Zahi Hawass has something to hide, eh Lutz?Very Happy

My suspicion was more towards uniforms ... I thought maybe the "Heroic Egyptian Army" was not quite unconcerned? Twisted Evil

Greetings, Lutz.
