Recently, as you know, a facial reconstruction, billed as Nefertiti, but done of the younger lady/mother of Tut was announced. I think we can agree the reconstruction doesn't resemble known representations of Nefertiti, but I think I see some comparison to the yellow jasper fragment of a queen. Does anyone have an opinion?

This fragment never did look anything like either Tiye or Nefertiti to me. Now I wonder if it might have represented Tut's mother, whoever she was. (I fall in in the camp that she was a daughter of A3 and Tiye, only from reading stuff).

I have no degree in Egyptology, I'm just a egyptophile who has read many books, so my claim to authority is non-existent. But I can recognize art and it makes me wonder.

Every time I see this object, it reminds me on the statue in the Louvre...

" Fragment d'un Groupe Royal d'Epoque Amarnienne " (Paris, Louvre N 831)

Yes!!! You're right. I'm not good with judging measurements. I wonder if the queen fragment was part of this statue?

Lutz, I was hoping you'd weigh in when I posted my original question. Surprised

I've seen both closely and they are on different scales with the facial fragment closer to life-size and the statue smaller.

A detailed discussion of the fragment can be found in ...

Dorothea Arnold : The Royal Women of Amarna - Images of Beauty from Ancient Egypt. - New York : Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1996. - ISBN : 0870998161; 0870998188; 0810965046. - XXII, 169 p.

... starting on page 35. Also, the head seems to be quite clearly a part of a composite statue, which probably excludes a connection with the Parisian dyade.
