Maybe Egyptian Dreams should have a lottery. The winners will be four or five of its most loyal posters, and the prize will be an all-expense-paid trip to Egypt.
That sounds reasonable, doesn't it?
I mean, so long as I'm one of the four or five (it was my idea, after all)! |

According to the membership list ordered according to # of posts, you're number 6....
I wonder how many emoticons looking like this: " " will be posted by Kevin?
Yet another nice daydream though... _________________ Math and Art: http://mathematicsaroundus.blogspot.com/ |

I'd really better step it up, then. I'm sure Kevin saw my suggestion and is busily working toward making it happen. |

Yeah, I'm sure he's negotiating with a travel agent as we speak...
Made me wonder if our fearless leader has been to Egypt himself? Or is planning on going? _________________ Math and Art: http://mathematicsaroundus.blogspot.com/ |

You know, I've never heard whether he has or not. Perhaps Kevin's like most of us on Egyptian Dreams: we think Egypt, read Egypt, sleep Egypt, and fantasize Egypt...and perhaps that's as close as it'll ever come to the real thing. |

Breasted died in 1935. I don't want to question the hieroglyphic transcription of one of the greatest Egyptologists in history, but our understanding of the hieroglyphic language was much more incomplete at the time. It's possible he or perhaps some clumsy editor jumbled the transliteration. We'd have to see the glyphs themselves to make sure. I'm hardly about to say Breasted was wrong, though. I don't rate.

If ever it could launch the debate about the minor Irerty goddess again, then here is the hieroglyphic facsimile from :
Catalogue des monuments et inscriptions de l'Égypte antique, Vol.1, p. 66.
I stressed in green the name of the goddess. I think.
Note that, according to the authors of the book (who also led the expedition), it was a hell to decipher the engraved stela and only 23 lines out of a possible near 40 lines were legible. _________________ Kmt is not a racial term nor a reference to the black silt deposited on the Nile valley, but an expression of "standing on place wherein food is plenty, allowing to stop moving like the neighbouring nomads". -Asar Imhotep |
