Hi all im currently modelling a 3d model of The tomb of Merenptah and ive completed the modelling(i would post a picture of it so u can see but i dont have webspace and i dont know how to post it up on here). But the next step i need to take is to begin texturing it and in order to depict it realisticly i need to find good quality photos of the wall paintings etc. Does anyone know where i can find any?

P.S If someone could explain how i post an image up here i would be more than happy to show the tomb so far[/img]

Are the pictures at http://www.thebanmappingproject.com/ not adequate for your purpose? Merenptah was buried in Tomb 8 and there are 63 images. If you click on each of the small images, a new window pops up to show a more detailed image. (Under "description" and then under "Images and Media")

Another source is an article on touregypt:
http://www.touregypt.net/featurestories/merneptaht.htm

You can do a search on merenptah and tomb on google:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=merenptah+tomb

His name is sometimes written as Merneptah, so you may get someother results from using that name in a search:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=merneptah+tomb

You may also want to look at your local library. N. Reeves has written a book about the tombs in the King's Valley. There maybe some good photographs in that as well.

Hope that helps Smile

The images can only be posted from a website. You may ask Kevin (the owner of the board) if you can send the pictures to him so that he can post them.

I'm supposing low-res (internet or monitor quality) photos are what you need? I went to Yahoo and brought up their image and photo search and came up with the following photos for the Theban tomb of Merenptah:

http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p=valley+of+the+kings+merenptah&ei=UTF-8&fr=sbc-web&fl=0&x=wrt

These are photos anyone can have and you can use them as you wish.

Love the work you've done on the tomb - congrats!

That's terrific work, Jonathan. I love the detail and precision, especially that wonderful vaulted ceiling.

You're most welcome. And with digital skills like that, I'll bet you could create some fantastic scenes and landscapes for computer games. There aren't enough of them about ancient Egypt. Yeah, I know, there actually are many with that theme, but I can never get enough! Very Happy
