I happened upon a set of "fasicules" of Egyptian Historical Records of the Later Eighteenth Dynasty, the description of which state that they are translations of the later portions (Helck's) of Urkunden der 18. Dynastie. The implication was that they are translations from German to English... but I was under the impression that the Urkunden were simply hieroglyphic transcriptions. Are they themselves translated (into German) as well?

Yes, that's the one (with further fasicules trans. by B. Davies).

If anyone knows of an available copy of Fasicle VI (6) of the Egyptian Historical Records of the Later Eighteenth Dynasty (Bernard G. Davies, 1994), I'm interested. I have Fasicles 1-5 already; I ordered the sole copy of 6 I could find but it became lost in the mail. Sad

In terms of collections of inscriptions... I currently have

Texts from the Pyramid Age (Old Kingdom)

Fasicles I-V of the Egyptian Historical Records of the Later 18th Dynasty (18th Dyn)

Texts from the Amarna Age (Late 18th Dyn)

Texts from the Libyan Anarchy (TIP until Saites)

as well as Breasted's older "Ancient Records of Egypt" and Lichtheim's anthologies (not counting a number of other "literature" anthologies such as those edited by Simpson, Parkinson, etc.).

Notable gaps: Middle Kingdom and Ramesside period. I think the latter is thoroughly covered in the Ramesside Inscriptions series by kitchen, et. al.... so that leaves the Middle Kingdom. Is there a collection of MK inscriptions/texts out there that I don't know about?

You have (?) ...

Kurt Sethe : Historisch-Biographische Urkunden des Mittleren Reiches. - Leipzig : 1935. - [Urkunden des Ägyptischen Altertums Abt. VII.1]. - [PDF - 1,5 MB].

There is also by him ...

... still in use as a textbook.

Greetings, Lutz.

The first seems not to work, try this one or "Google-Search" with the title ...

Hm... good pointer. Was hoping for English, but I have enough German to muddle through it. Danke!
